Program Overview: The Medical Laboratory Technologist Training Program is designed to provide aspiring medical laboratory technologists with hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare laboratory setting. The program aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, ensuring that interns develop the necessary skills and competencies to become proficient medical laboratory professionals.

Program Objectives:

·         To provide interns with practical experience in clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.

·         To enhance interns' understanding of laboratory equipment operation, quality control, and safety protocols.

·         To expose interns to various laboratory departments, according to their program selection, including haematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, serology, blood bank, anatomic pathology, and molecular diagnostics.

·         To develop interns' critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills within a healthcare team.

·         To prepare interns for eligibility to sit for certification examinations in medical laboratory technology.

Program Structure:

·         Clinical Laboratory Placement: Interns will be placed in a clinical laboratory within a healthcare facility.

·         Supervision: Interns will work under the supervision of experienced and certified medical laboratory professionals.

·         Hands-on Experience: Interns will actively participate in laboratory testing, quality control, and result interpretation.

·         Department Rotation: Interns may have the opportunity to rotate through different laboratory departments to gain exposure to various specialties.

·         Evaluation and Assessments: Interns will be evaluated based on their performance, including practical assessments and feedback from supervisors.
